Patrick Drew McDaniel

Hello, I am a researcher at the AT&T Shannon Laboratory in Florham Park, New Jersey and an adjunct professor of the Stern School of Business at New York University in Manhattan. Focusing in systems security and networking, my research centrally investigates technologies supporting security policy, distributed systems, component architectures, and electronic commerce. I spend much of my life writing papers, articles, and book chapters. Where such endeavors allow free time, I enjoy working on my house and yard, spending time with my wife and son, and exploring New York. I am an avid, if not particularly skillful, climber and hiker (that's me on the right at about 12,500 feet, getting ready to summit Mount Chapin in north-central Colorado). As an alumnus of Ohio University (BS, Computer Science, 1989), Ball State University (MS, Computer Science, 1991) and the University of Michigan (PhD, Computer Science and Engineering, 2001), I follow the Cats', Cardinals, and Wolverines religiously.
